Hello,
I have a form with a tab group. One of the tabs has a list box that I populate when the tab group click event happens. So far so good, but I would like to either: 1. Immediately display the populated list so the user can just pick one and doesn't have to click on the down arrow... or 2. Populate the initial displayed value of the list box with something like "select from the drop down list..." Thanks, /Scott Ballinger |

Is it feasible to have just a list box rather than a drop-down list - this way the options are listed.

Hi Geoff,
I don't think that will work because there are thousands of items in the drop down list. |

Scott,
You're going to have the same problem whether you have a drop down or straight list box - takes the same time to populate it and the display takes no time. Geoff |

It's just a matter of space available on the form- a list box would take up a lot of (limited) space, whereas the drop-down list, once completed, is only one line. It is not about how long it takes to populate the list; I just want to show/remind the user that the next step they need to do is fill in this field. My work-around is to populate the 1st value in the list with "select from drop down list..." and display that as the default value of the control.
Thanks. |
