We are running D3 on an AIX machine and we generally use VP emulation. I'm having what I believe to be a common issue with the way VP handles newline characters received from the host. Everything within D3 is fine, but when I need to go out to Unix that's where things get a little goofy.

Unix uses only LF (or ASCII char 0A) for a newline, vs. the DOS/Windows combo of CR LF (or 0D 0A). When I use VP emulation and run a Unix command from TCL or PickBASIC (like ls, grep, or cat) I get newlines but not a carriage return. This behavior does not happen in VT mode, but I can't change all of my stations to use VT.

Does anyone know how to configure AT2K2 v5.2a (or later) so that VP will interpret a LF from the host as the equivalent of CR LF?

Thanks,

Which terminal emulation are you using?
ADDS Viewpoint A2 or Viewpoint A2 Enhanced?
Also try the SCO console emulation.

Hi Michael -

Try doing "stty onlcr" from the AIX prompt. You might want to add this command to the .profile so when a user logs in it always executes.

Thanks,

Pete

Gentlemen,

Thanks for your replies. We are using VP A2 Enhanced. I will try the 'stty onlcr' and see if that does the trick.
