Topic: Missing recordsPosted: August 01 2008 at 2:07am |
|
I noticed that using the upload wizard in 2K2 that I am missing the first record in either a tab or comma separted file. For example, I uploaded a 100 row, single column, csv file using a sequential number as the id and ended up with 99 records. I never checked the first row contains headers box so that is not the issue. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Just doing a follow-up posting to find out if this bug has been found and what I need to do to correct. I have been doing numerous uploads recently and it really has become a bit of an annoyance. -Thanks

My guess is that nobody else has run into the situation.
What happens when you try a single row? Then 2 rows? What is the data like? Have you changed the extension to txt to see if there is a difference? Bruce |

I tried doing an upload with a file containing a single column with only two records and got the same result, only 1 of the two records uploaded. I tried both a tab delimited text file and csv file. Seems there is a glitch in the Acxiom upload process with delimited files where the first column does not contain a heading. |

Maybe it has something to do with the file?
I created a record, JUNK.txt with 2 rows, just text. I then ran FTD :FTD AccuTerm Data Transfer Utility (S)end, (R)eceive, (C)onfigure, (O)ptions, (H)elp or (E)xit ? R File transfer protocol: (A)SCII or (K)ERMIT ? K Enter source (DOS) file name (d:\directory\file.ext): C:\JUNK.TXT Use Header Record (<Y>/N): N Attributes to transfer: * Number of header records to skip: 0 Automatically generate target (PICK) IDs (Y/<N>): Y Auto ID Prefix: Auto ID Starting Number: 1 Enter target (PICK) file name: TEMP.FILE1 Converting JUNK.TXT from Tab delimited text format for upload... done. Transfer status: Successful transfer. Transferred 2 items, 14 bytes. GCM2_43:COUNT TEMP.FILE1 COUNT TEMP.FILE1 2 record(s) counted. Can you further describe the file? |

This may be helpful. I tried uploading a CSV file with 353 records (via the wizard) and amazingly, I had 353 records in my host file. So, I started thinking about what I had done differently for this upload to work properly as opposed to not for all my previous uploads. The difference was I chose to upload all columns. When I unchecked this box and only chose one column to upload, I had only 352 records in my upload. Just to verify, I tried my 2 record, 1 column test file and found that checking the box produced the desired upload of 2 records to my host file. Leaving it unchecked and indicating the field to upload produced a result of 1 record in my host file when there should have been two. In comparison, I tried using FTD from the command line to upload my test file and achieved the results expected (i.e. 2 records uploaded to my host file). Thus, there appears to be a glitch in Accuterm's upload wizard. |

Hi rsine -
I have attempted to duplicate your results but am unable to. Could you zip your 2 record, 1 column test file, along with the wizard job you use to reproduce the failure case, to support ... at ... asent.com. You can save the wizard job on the last page of the wizard, you should be able to save it as a DOS text file. Thanks, Pete |
