Hi,

Hopefully an easy question for somebody to answer:

We are in the process of upgrading from D3 version 7.4.2 to 9.1 and we have just been told that the nailed port implementation has changed drastically. We will now be using the new xinet functionality to nail ports.

My question is: in Accuterm, should we continue to use the 'D3 turnkey telnet' option in the 'Host Type' field, or should we use default telnet now? My understanding was that the 'D3 turnkey telnet' was necessary because D3 supplied its own telnet server for nailed ports. Perhaps now this is no longer necessary?

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark -

The host type is used to set telnet options, port, and termtype ID based on the selected host type (port & termtype are only used by the QM host type). Default host type sets only the Echo option (all host types set this option). D3 Turnkey Telnet sets Echo, Binary and Bypass options. The Bypass option is the interesting one - basically it tells AccuTerm to assume the desired options (Echo & Binary) are being used without negotiating with the server. This was included in AccuTerm to work around bugs in the D3 telnet server. The D3 telnet server is much better now so I would expect either the default host type (Echo) or the D3/Windows (Echo & Binary) host type would work correctly.

Thanks,

Pete
