Is there an emulation that is best suited to the GUI side of Accuterm? Like many users that's the part of our system we want to improve and if there's anything we can do to make that task easier it'll be useful.

Hi -
There is no particular emulation that is "best" for GUI-izing an application. AccuTerm's GUI environment is a true event driven GUI, and the GUI forms open in separate windows and are not affected by the normal terminal text screen. If you are looking for a "fake GUI" solution, then check out AccuTerm's Visual Styles and Smart User Interface Library. Visual Styles gives a GUI look to a text application. Its only an illusion - the application does not work any differently. Using the Smart User Interface Library for Input and Display functions in conjunction with Visual Styles gives a GUI look and feel to text applications. AccuTerm's Visual Styles works best in Wyse 60, ADDS 4000 (supported by AccuTerm's Viewpoint A2 Enhanced emulation), and VT420 emulation. See this technical article for a comparison of the various approaches including complete sample code for each of example. Thanks, Pete |
