Topic: WED dropping charactersPosted: November 08 2018 at 6:58am |

I recently used WED to copy a record from one server to another. One of the lines in the record contained a string of EBCDIC characters. After having problems with the copy of the record, I discovered that WED was dropping all EBCDIC zero characters (0xf0).
The actual record data was ^198^211^241^241^240^241K^240^240^242^240^240^246^240^243^240^243 which translates to FL1101.0020060303. What WED presented when I edited the record was ^198^211^241^241^241K^242^246^243^243 which translates to FL111.2633. Is this something that can be corrected or does the communication between the server and WED.EXE on the PC use 0xf0 for a special purpose? |

Hi Auctor -
I don't think wED is responsible for dropping the 0xF0 characters. I created a test item on QM, that contained a few CHAR(240) characters in the record, and was able to open it in wED, modify the item, save from wED and re-open without losing any characters. Thanks, Pete |

Interesting. I'll try to find some time in the next few weeks to track down where the characters are being dropped.
