I am running AccuTerm 2K2 5.0e and Windows XP. One of the PC's on our network is unable run scripts. The Pick Basic statement:
CALL ATCREATEOBJECT('SCRIPTING.FILESYSTEMOBJECT',FS.OBJ,ATERRMSG, OPTS)
returns the error msg:
"The requested object could not be created."
Also under the AccuTerm Tools menu, the Script selection is not grayed out but no scripting window opens when I click on it.
Another manifestation of the problem occurs in the VB statement of an Excel macro:
Set fs = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
which causes an error.

I suspect maybe this is more than just an AccuTerm problem but I might ask if you have any idea on what the fix might be, please.

Hi Frank -

First, the Scripting object you obtain by using CreateObject or ATCREATEOBJECT is not the same scripting environment that AccuTerm uses in the script window. Its possible that the user customized the AccuTerm menu to prevent opening the script window, or maybe removed one of the script components from the Windows\System32 directory. Reinstalling AccuTerm should restore any missing components. About the CreateObject("Scripting...) error, I suspect that scripting support for the PC has somehow been disabled. I have heard that users sometimes remove the wscript.exe file from the Windows\System32 directory to disable scripting.

Pete,

Thanks for your suggestions but no luck. The wscript.exe file seems to be intact just fine. I had already tried reinstalling AccuTerm on the PC with no luck. As a matter of fact the uninstall/reinstall didn't go too smoothly, but did end up with a working version of AccuTerm, except for the original scripting problem. The reinstall glitch was an error window:
"Terradyne Source View Control"
"Register Server failed in SRCVW32.DLL ..."
I even tried the recommendations I found in the forum to uninstall/restart, install/restart twice but continued to get the Terradyne error each time.

Does this give you any clues or am I combining unrelated problems? Thanks very much.

I am getting the following error message when trying to run AccuTerm:
 
Tetradyne SourceView Control
RegisterServer failed in SRCVW32.DLL.  Return=0x8002801c. GetLastError = 0x0).
 
The AccuTerm 2k2 v5.3c has been working for several months, but then we started getting this error on one of our computers.  I tried to un-install and re-install the program a few times but we continue to receive this message after it is finished with the status bar, and trying to finish up.
I was able to install an older version v5.3a, to allow the user to work, although they cannot go to 'Tools' and 'Settings', nothing opens up.
 
Does anyone have some ideas on what I can check or do to fix this?  I have already tried to un-install and re-install (and delete the ATWin directory), but continue to get this error.

Hi Doug -

SRCVW32.DLL is used by the WED editor. You should not have a problem running AccuTerm when this DLL is missing or incorrectly registered. Beginning with release 5.3b, SRCVW4.DLL has replaced SRCVW32.DLL, so with release 5.3c you should not see any errors referring to SRCVW32.DLL. Please try the old uninstall-reboot-install-reboot-install trick using the 5.3c install, and see if things get straightened out. Be sure you are an admin user when performing the installs.

I have tried this, I uninstall then reboot, then try to install the v5.3c, but before it finishes installing, I get the RegisterServer failed error, and then a 'Error - Unexpected error; quiting' message, then it asks if I want to view the 'Readme' file, and then 'Finish', then just for fun, I reboot again before trying to run the program.
Is there something else I should be deleting (folder, registry entries, or something else)?

Hi Doug -

There could be a problem with permissions or corruption in your registry. Please send an email to support@asent.com and I can send you the srvcw4.dll file with instructions for registering it manually. Maybe there will be a more useful error message from manual registration.
