I'll frequently copy some text from the screen just to paste it back somewhere else. Like generating a unique key or filename and then pasting it into a verb to COPY or WED, etc.
I can't eliminate using the mouse to find and copy the text but I was thinking there should be a way to paste it from the keyboard without grabbing the mouse again. I tried to program shiftF1 with ESC STX Y CR using ^[^BY^M, but when I hit the function key, the server responds as though those keys were entered directly. I understand I sent that data to the server rather than having the server print the sequence for AT to process. Is there a way to somehow tell the function key first that the data it contains isn't going to be sent to the server at all? It's sort of like setting the InputMode for the client. That would allow us keyed access to scripts and other functions rather than mousing around. Thanks! |

aw, you cheated! But it works and that's what counts - thanks Patrick, I wasn't thinking along those lines.
I have a script file that gets loaded with my layout, containing code to selectively paste text with or without an EOL. Using the [script] syntax to call from a function key, how would I call my own script code? Using a simple [subname] doesn't work. I understand that it doesn't know yet where to look for the code that I'm referring to. Thanks again! |
