Topic: Device Licensing - ViewpointPosted: October 22 2013 at 6:05am |

We are in the process of moving to Universe and are working with device licensing. I can get the device licensing to work but when connecting with uvdls using a Viewpoint emulation, the keyboard immediately locks upon connection. Reset terminal will free it but I'm wondering why it is happening and if there is a way to fix it. VT100 does not seem to lock. We have a ton of users that would need to be switched, so I'm hoping for an easier solution. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Steve -
The U2 device license handshake string that the server sends to AccuTerm includes the EOT control character CHAR(4). In Viewpoint Enhanced emulation, EOT locks the keyboard. I don't know if there is a place where you can enter your own string to send to the client before the user ID prompt, but if there is, you could send the unlock code, STX which is CHAR(2). Another option, if you are using AccuTerm 7, is that a special "custom feature code" was added to release 7.1a-sp3 which disables the EOT / STX control character functions in Viewpoint Enhanced mode. During installation, there is a text box where you can enter a custom feature code. The code for this feature is "VPLK3". This only applies to release 7.1a-sp3 and above. Thanks, Pete |
