Topic: Accuterm 7 connection issuePosted: November 17 2011 at 5:29pm |

I have a client who has just changed their server to a Windows 7 Pro machine running 7 user QM. They added a new workstation running Windows 7 to the network. I loaded Accuterm 7 on the new workstation - the others all run an older version. Everything worked ok - the existing PCs connected fine - BUT the new Win 7 PC wouldn't connect to QM. I eventually narrowed it down to a Windows Firewall issue - if I switched the firewall off on the server, it would connect.
I tried every setting on the firewall that made any sense and still no joy. Eventually I uninstalled Accuterm 7 on the new PC and installed version 5.3c sp2 - it connected immediately. So, the problem has been solved but I was wondering if anyone may be able to shed any light on why Accuterm 7 wouldn't connect. |

10-23-2014: I just ran into this same problem trying to establish a remote connection to my Win 7 Pro 64-bit machine with Accuterm 7 Host Programs loaded on it from an external remote client connection also using Accuterm 7. With my Public Firewall Network turned on and my Private Network turned off, we had a connection to jBASE on port 23. With my Public Firewall Network turned on and my Private Network turned on, however, we had no connection to jBASE on port 23. Both the Accuterm 7 program and the Telnet program were listed as Allowed Programs for incoming connection. Under Advanced Settings, Inbound Rules, Accuterm 7 with Profile = All, Public, Private and Domain were Allowed and Telnet with Profile = Private, Public and Domain was Allowed. It sounds like this problem has been around since 2005. An ideas yet?
Thanks, Dave Taylor |
