I understand that AccuTerm 2K2 supports Kermit packet sizes longer than the default of 95 bytes. How do you change the packet size?

When you are running AccuTerm 2K2, you can adjust the Kermit packet size using the FTSETUP program from TCL. Run FTSETUP and select Kermit Configuration.

You can change the maximum inbound packet size by adjusting the "Maximum packet size" configuration parameter. The size must be between 35 and 2000. The default is 94 bytes. "Maximum packet size" must be smaller than the host system's input buffer size!

The outbound packet size is limited by the smaller of the remote side maximum packet size or the "Source buffer index" configuration parameter. In AccuTerm 2K2, the remote side maximum packet size is 2048 bytes.

Empirical testing of D3 and UniVerse on Linux indicates setting the "Source buffer index" to 700 and setting "Maximum packet size" to 500 gives optimum results in that particular environment. Be sure to test in your own environement if you adjust these settings.

Note: adjusting the "Maximum packet size" setting above 95 is only possible with version 5.1 or higher of the host programs. Check the comments in FTVERSN in the FTBP file for the version number of your installed host programs. Using a size greater than 94 with older versions of AccuTerm on the PC should not cause any problems.
