Topic: Phantoms including license detailsPosted: June 12 2007 at 5:05am |

It's just been brought to my attention that almost everything run as a phantom displays a line with license details in the &PH& record -
ACCUTERM/WIN32IE 5.2b serial_number INTERNET my_user_name, site, server_name which is caused by ESC STX I, which is one of the programming commands for AccuTerm. So we've got something putting that string into all the &PH& records - it looks like it's appearing on the first line which attempts to display anything to the screen, or on the last line if there isn't one. Anyone had this before? |

Your phantom needs to know that it is a running as a phantom and if so, then don't check for Accuterm running as it obvious isn't being that it is a phantom.
Any time you call the Accuterm FTD, FTSERVER, etc. routines it will do this test which waits a second for input then continues on. Sometimes the input can be a problem for phantom processes, but in this case I would assume that since it is a timed input it should go on without further trouble, but you will get that information in your Phantom log.

The ESC STX I sequence is being created by every phantom process, regardless of what it is running - the problem is only noticed when the &PH& record is viewed using AccuTerm because of that sequence having a special meaning for that emulator.
It's something to do with how we have UniVerse set up, but only come to notice because of AccuTerm, which is why I'm asking about it here. |
