Has anybody tackled capturing data from a signature pad? I'm just starting my research to see if it is feasible. My first question is, what is the data sent by the device?

Depends on make and model of the device. How does it connect to the system? Network, serial, via the keyboard on a PC? I've connected a lot of different devices, just need more information to give a competent answer.

I'm looking for advice on all of the questions you ask. I know nothing about signature pads. I didn't even know there was a keyboard wedge available. A customer called last week and asked if we could do it so I thought I'd take a shortcut and check here. Any recommendations on a good direction will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

ePadlink ePad II USB Electonic Signature Capture Pad - VP9851
I just looked at this one and it is under $200 for a unit. Since it is USB it most likely has software to store the signature as an image file. You could set it up to store the image in a given folder, then in the Accuterm app check that folder for new files and move it, link it into your DB, copy it, whatever.
I would think this would be the easiest way to go.

Thanks - I'll look into it. I'll post how it goes. I'm sure there are others out there that could use the help.

How did the signature pad work out?We are investigating the possibility of implementing the
following process:
1. Within AccuTerm 7, we are creating a shipping
Bill of Material as a .pdf and saving the unsigned document and printing it. 2.
When the truck arrives to pick up the shipment,
our staff will take the BOL printed in the previous step and gather the pallets
together and load the truck while the driver counts the cartons being loaded. 3.
After the truck is loaded the printed BOL bar
code is scanned by an AccuTerm program running on a Windows 10 Surface tablet and… a. Program
calls Adobe Reader DC (or some other appropriate program) and displays the BOL
on the screen. b. Called
program then displays an area where the truck driver signs the BOL as
accurately reflecting what was loaded. c. The signed document is then saved and a copy of it is printed for the driver to take. |

Gosh, I wish I had seen this - I wrote an interface like this years ago. Here's a blog describing it. The code is too old now and the device is outdated, so it would need to be re-written ... but it all worked.
